Solar Shop Australia appoints new General Manager, Retail

Following a period of significant growth, Australia’s largest solar retailer, Solar Shop Australia has announced the appointment of Daniel Edgecombe to the newly created role of General Manager, Retail.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Mr Edgecombe brings more than 17 years of professional experience in both Australia and the United Kingdom to Solar Shop Australia. Mr Edgecombe entered the retail sector in 2002 and has held roles including Chief Financial Officer for Radio Rentals, and General Manager of Business Development for Hills Industries.

As General Manager of Retail, Mr Edgecombe will be responsible for managing the retail division of Solar Shop Australia, which has been providing tailored solar solutions to homes and businesses form more than 10 years.

Tony Thornton, Chief Executive Officer of Solar Shop Australia said he was pleased to have Mr Edgecombe on board.

“Daniel brings a wealth of experience to Solar Shop Australia and he will make a significant contribution to the organisation during an exciting period of growth,” Mr Thornton said.
 
“Solar Shop Australia opened more than 11 retail outlets across the country in less than six months during 2010 and Daniel will continue to drive the organisation’s rapid expansion.

“Daniel has the necessary experience and proven skills to continue developing the retail division of the business. I have every faith that Daniel will achieve Solar Shop Australia’s national growth goals,” Mr Thornton said.

During the past 18 months Solar Shop Australia has established its own commercial solar organisation - Commsolar, an online solar business – Sunsavers and a solar specific finance company – Solar Financial Solutions.

The newly created position of General Manager, Retail was established as part of an internal restructure, which has freed Tony Thornton to undertake a more overarching executive position overseeing the entire Solar Shop Australia group.
