Feed in Tariffs are provided by various state governments and utility providers and serve as an additional benefit in switching to green energy. They offer a premium payment (3-4 times the retail rate) for your solar electricity.
Net Feed in Tariff vs. Gross Feed in Tariff
A majority of Australia's current Feed in Tariffs schemes are "Net", which means you are paid for excess electricity fed back into the grid from your grid connect solar system. In comparison, under a Gross Feed in Tariffs scheme, consumers are paid for all electricity generated by a Grid Connect System.
Retailer Top-up
Some energy retailers provide a "top-up", paying customers an additional credit (on top of the state legislated Feed in Tariff) for surplus energy.
Feed in Tariffs by State
Depending on where you live, you may be paid up to four times the retail rate for your surplus solar electricity. Review the chart below for information specific to your state.
