100% ELECTRIC: ZERO EMISSIONS
The Vectrix ZEV is the first fully electric bike, it's great for the environment, and its low repair rates are unrivaled. And it goes fast. By fast, we mean zero to 80 KPH in 6.8 seconds. We're not just electric – we're Vectrix.
Solar Shop Australia is very proud to offer the Vectrix Maxi Scooter - the first electric vehicle of its kind in Australia.
The Vectrix Scooter is different in almost every way from a traditional petrol scooter/motorcycle. The innovative design of the scooter focuses on achieving extended range and high performance through weight reduction, digital circuitry, low aerodynamic drag, and minimal friction.
The Vectrix scooter incorporates relatively few parts (250 vs. 2,500 for a petrol scooter), resulting in reduced production costs and minimal maintenance.
The Vectrix electric maxi-scooter is the world's first high-performance electric two-wheel vehicle to offer all the benefits of a traditional petrol-powered scooter but without the noise, pollution, expensive maintenance, frequent oil changes, and regular trips to the petrol station.
The Vectrix maxi-scooter is fun to ride and easy to operate. Its top speed of 100 km/h and fast acceleration make it safe and easy to zip in and out of traffic. The onboard charger plugs into any standard electrical outlet to quickly charge the batteries, which provide up to 110 km of travel on a single charge. A low centre of gravity and stiff frame provide excellent handling, and the multi-function throttle allows riders to accelerate and slow down with a simple twist of the throttle.
With the Vectrix maxi-scooter you’ll be free to move, free from traffic jams, free from expensive maintenance, free from rising petrol prices, free from pollution, and free from guilt about damaging the planet.
Vectrix Features & Benefits
Outstanding Performance
Fast – A top speed of 100 km/h Rapid Acceleration - 0-96 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Extended Range – Up to 110 km on a single charge (average speed of 40 km/h).
Easy to Use
Stop and Go with One Hand – Simply twist the throttle for instant acceleration, and when it’s time to slow down or stop, twist the throttle forward to activate regenerative braking, which slows the Vectrix maxi-scooter smoothly and safely.
Easy to Park – The multi-function throttle also controls a slow-speed reverse function - making it easy to manoeuvre in and out of tight parking spaces.
No Gear Shifting – The integrated electric motor and single-stage planetary gearbox eliminates the need for a clutch or gear shifting.
Quick to Charge – The on-board charger plugs into any standard 240V electric outlet and recharges the battery pack (80% charge) in just over two hours.
Practical – Under-seat storage accommodates a full-sized helmet, and there is additional storage space in the glove box. Mobile phones and other electronic devices can be charged from the integrated 12-volt power outlet.
Instant Information – An advanced digital dashboard displays speed, odometer, energy consumption, battery status and estimated range on a central analog display and two LCD’s.
Low Running Costs
Inexpensive to Run – Electricity is one-tenth of the cost of petrol . Minimal Maintenance – Many of the key components in the Vectrix maxi-scooter are sealed and maintenance free. You'll never have to change oil or replace filters again.
Long Battery Life – The Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery pack has an estimated life of up to 10 years based on 8,000km per year.
Environmentally Friendly
Zero Emissions – The Vectrix maxi-scooter is emission free at the point of use, whereas petrol scooters can produce up to 5 times the pollution of the average automobile (current European emission standards).
Low carbon footprint - even when sourcing electricity from brown coal fired power station to charge the batteries, the amount of CO2 per 100km travelled is 4.32kg/100km. In terms of pollution, this is equivalent to using 1.8 litres of petrol per 100km.
Choose your fuel source - with a petrol vehicle, you don't have any option but to buy petrol. With an electric scooter, you can purchase electricity from a myriad of sources. Best of all, you can make your own power on the roof of your home to power your electric vehicle. Make your Vectrix truly zero emission and power it from solar panels. A $5,000 solar system will produce enough electricity to power your Vectrix for 41,000km per year! (based on Adelaide solar radiation data)
Very Low Noise – The Vectrix scooter is much quieter than a petrol powered scooter or motorcycle.
The Vectrix drive train technology features an advanced brushless DC motor designed and manufactured by Parker Hannifin’s Divisione SBC in Milan, Italy.
The custom DC motor is lightweight, efficient and designed for optimum performance and low cost. The DC motor converts stored energy in the battery pack to drive the scooter’s rear wheel through a single-stage planetary gearbox.

Vectrix worked closely with Gold Peak Batteries to develop an integrated 30 Ah, 125 volt, Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery pack specifically for the Vectrix scooter.
The battery pack has a rated battery capacity of 3.7 kWh and is designed for up to 1,700 full charging cycles. Based on an average distance travelled of 160 km – 240 km per week, and 2-3 full charging cycles per week (100 – 150 per year), the battery pack will last between 10 to 15 years. Partial charges are not expected to reduce the life expectancy of the battery pack.
The 1.5 kW on-board charger plugs into a standard single 240Vac, 10 Amp single phase outlet and provides an 80% charge in just over 2 hours.

In a conventional fossil fuel based vehicle, energy is dissipated when you slow down, or stop a car by using the brakes.
It takes a huge amount of energy to get a 1.5 tonne piece of metal up to say 100km/h. And when you step on the brakes, all of that kinetic energy is dissipated into mostly heat on your brake pads and discs.
With the Vectrix, when you apply the brakes, the electric motor is immediately turned into an electric generator. All of that kinetic energy is used to charge the battery bank and this slows down the Vectrix.
This feature extends the battery range of the Vectrix as well as saving wear and tear on the discs and pads.
The Vectrix still has normal disc brakes as well as having regenerative braking. The regenerative braking is activated by twisting the throttle in reverse.
A sophisticated instrument pod displays speed, odometer, trip mileage, time, estimated range, system status, battery status and charging status on an advanced and easy to read LCD and analogue display.
