Megaman 240V Micro Compact Fluoro 11W (GU10)
This is one of the best ways to replace power-hungry 12v Halogen downlights.
It's output is equivalent to a 45W halogen, yet uses approximately 75% less electricity. It also runs on 240v so a transformer is not required.
It is mounted with a GU10 base, unlike halogens which have an MR16 base, however a retro-fit kit is available for purchase here.
In addition to low wattage consumption, the estimated life of this Micro Compact Fluoro is an amazing 15,000 hours!
