Solar Shop Australia welcomes the
new South Australian Feed in Law for grid connected solar systems.
Thanks to this law, retailers are
mandated to pay their customers 44c/kWh for any solar electricity that is
exported in to the electricity grid.
This compared to the retail cost of
electricity in South Australia which is around 19c/kWh.
The scheme is fixed for 20 years or
until 2028.
All households with solar electricity
panels on their roof are eligible for this tariff. Small businesses that consume
less than 160,000kWh/year are also eligible for this tariff.
The South Australian Government is the
first to legislate payment for electricity generated from solar power and we
hope other state Governments follow suit.
Feed in tariffs have been used
successfully overseas, especially Germany where over one billion Watts of solar
panels were installed last year thanks to this scheme.
