The Budget Low Down
Here are the changes to the $8,000 rebate after the Federal Budget on the 13th May.
• The Photovoltaic Rebate Program (PVRP) has changed its name to Solar Homes and Communities Plan (SHCP). •
The SHCP now has a new eligibility criteria whereby a household's
combined income needs to be less than $100,000 to qualify for the
$8,000 rebate. This is based on the annual taxable income of the
applicant and their spouse (if any) in the most recent tax year prior
to application. • The Australian Government has allocated enough funding to allow up to 6000 household rebates to be paid next year. • SHCP funding will end after the 2009-10 financial year as oppose to 2011-12. •
People will have access to green loans of up to $10,000 that they can
use to purchase solar power systems – starting in early 2009
