Solar Feed-in Tariff for ACT
Feed In Tarrif for ACT
On Wednesday 2nd July, the ACT parliament passed the Electricity Feed In Tariff Bill.
This scheme is quite different to VIC, QLD and SA.
It pays 60c/kWh to every kWh produced by the solar panels.
The other schemes only pay a premium for electricity that is exported into the grid.
When
solar panels produce electricity, the power is used in the house first
and surplus is exported into the grid. Only the surplus solar
electricity attracts the premium in SA, VIC and QLD.
The ACT
scheme also has a sliding scale. Solar systems less than 10kW in size
receive the 60c/kWh buyback amount. This is still quite generous as the
average system being installed at the moment is more like 1.5kW. Solar
systems less greater than 10kW and less than 30kW will receive 48c/kWh
and systems greater than 30kW will receive 45c/kWh.
This is by far the most generous feed in scheme in Australia.
The tariff can be reviewed by the Minister each year and total scheme will be reviewed every 5 years.
The premium tariff will be paid to the system generator for 20 years.
