what is a remote
area power system?
Remote power systems are a very cost effective solution when you are
faced with a large connection cost to the main electricity grid. Solar
panels and wind turbines are used to charge a battery bank, which in
turn is used to power a house. A generator usually backs up these
systems. Each system is expertly designed by our design engineers and
individually tailored to your requirements. Our computerised sizing
software assists in insuring you are designed the most cost effective
renewable power station.
what size system
do i need?
The
size of system you need depends on your requirements and your location.
The performance of the power system output is dependent on seasonal
weather. The Solar Shop can provide you with information to assist you
in making a decision.

where should the
panels be installed?
Panels are usually mounted on the roof of your house or garage. They
can also be mounted on the ground. With the placement of the solar
panels, you want a north facing array with maximum sun and minimum
shading. Our engineers can custom design solar array frames ensuring
optimum tilt and orientation of the solar panels is maintained.
how about wind
power?
Wind power is a great idea if you have a very breezy location. Purchasing an
anemometer and logging the wind speed for at least three months is
a really good idea before investing in a wind turbine. It takes the
guess work out of the decision making process. Otherwise, our sales
consultants can provide you with comparison information which will help
your feasibility
process.

can i get a
government rebate?
There are currently multiple government grants
available to subsidise up to 55% of the cost of a renewable energy
system. Solar Shop can assist you in applying. For more information go

how much
maintenance is required?
Solar panels, regulators and inverters require very little maintenance.
Wet cell batteries require frequent attention however gel batteries are
maintenance free. Wind turbines need annual attention to make sure
everything is OK.

do i need to do
any special wiring to my house?
Nearly every system we design and install has a regular 240Vac output -
just like mains power. So you can purchase regular appliances. However
you need to be very careful when selecting appliances. Some types of
fridges, washing machines, hot water units or televisions can use a
heap of power. The more power your appliances consume, the more
expensive it is to power them. So make sure you talk to us as our staff
can help you along the way to a reliable and cost effective RAPS.
